According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko has cast doubt over his future with the club.
This comes after he said he would be ‘lying’ if he said his future lied with Spurs whilst on international duty with France.
These statements by the player are understandable to an extent; since joining in the summer of 2016, he has endured a fairly torrid time under Mauricio Pochettino as the club have struggled to not only unleash the form that he showed during his Euro 2016 campaign, but to find the right position for the player.
However, what is truly bizarre is the timing of these comments, given his recent form for Spurs. In recent weeks, the 29-year-old has picked up his performances significantly, which subsequently led to his inclusion back into the France squad after missing the World Cup. In a number of games recently, the player has looked to be one of Spurs’ best players on the pitch, as fans are getting glimpses again of the rampaging runs that he became famous for a few years ago.
While his form is picking up, it seems like a daft thing to say in an interview. This will only affect his chances of progress in white. Although it probably won’t make much of an change, it is something that is only going to do more harm than good with regards to his future under Pochettino.
Spurs fans will hope that the international break will raise the Frenchman’s standard all the more, and hope he continues his good form, and they may even hope he changes his mind about his future.
