Rashford struggling for goals at UnitedHas scored just twice this seasonSaha says he lacks "emotional drive"WHAT HAPPENED?
Rashford enjoyed his best-ever season last time out for Manchester United, scoring 30 times for the Red Devils. However, it's been a different story entirely more recently in what has been a very disappointing season so far for Erik ten Hag's side. Rashford has managed just two goals and has looked a shadow of his former self. Saha has admitted he's been surprised by Rashford's form and has tried to put his finger on where it's all going wrong for the 26-year-old.

Saha told Paddy Power: “Last year he was amazing and it’s very difficult to understand what’s going on with him right now. He’s the best player in the squad along with Bruno Fernandes, and there's too much responsibility on him to create that magic. His personality isn’t right up there, and he doesn’t have that emotional drive. There will always be talks around his transfer which people will like, but in his head, he won’t be thinking about it at all. He wants to recover his form; discover how he can help Manchester United week-in-week-out and the only challenge he has is to show his quality and consistency and that’s all we’re asking from him.
“There’s an expectation that because he’s the local boy, he has to connect with the fans but it’s when things aren’t going his way that he needs that connection. It’s the type of thing that Gary Neville, Phil Neville, John O’Shea or Wes Brown were all able to do whilst maintaining the quality. It’s a big booster for your confidence and if you don’t have that, it’s really hard. It’s like a boomerang, it’ll come straight back into your face. Rashford has delivered that because playing at Old Trafford, the fans are sometimes very demanding, and he has to understand the balance. It's not about transfers and the big clubs coming in for him, those will be regular rumours. He needs to recover his form and become a top-10 player in the world because that’s his level if he gets that consistency."

Rashford's loss of form means he's now facing a battle for a place in Ten Hag's starting XI. Teenager Alejandro Garnacho has been impressing on the left of the United attack, which is Rashford's preferred position, and the England international simply does not possess the same threat on the opposite flank. Ten Hag has urged Rashford to take inspiration from team-mate Harry Maguire who has managed to force his way back into the team after seeming destined for an Old Trafford exit in the summer.
