The Red Dragons have emulated their efforts from 2022-23 by reaching the latter stages of English football’s grandest knockout competition. They came unstuck against Premier League-bound Sheffield United 12 months ago, with co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney riding another emotional rollercoaster there.

Head coach Parkinson has said of his hopes for 2024, having disposed of local rivals Shrewsbury in round three: “I'd love a home tie against a big team. I just think that the atmosphere at The Racecourse, particularly now we have got the temporary stand up, is fantastic. Let's look forward to a great day and enjoy the draw on Monday. I don't want a team in our own division. I don't know how many teams are left in our division but it would be great to get a home tie.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Wrexham’s Welsh rivals Newport are the only other fourth-tier side left in the FA Cup this season, while Eastleigh and Maidstone United are the two non-league representatives. There are four League One teams still in the draw as things stand, and 18 Premier League outfits – with some third-round ties yet to be played and others going to a replay.

Wrexham, who are looking to wrap up back-to-back promotions this season, have shown that they can hold their own against opponents from higher divisions – having sent Championship side Coventry packing last term – and would see a big draw in round four tempt Reynolds and McElhenney back across the Atlantic.
