The NJ/NY based side invited fans and supporters to celebrate their 2023 NWSL title win over OL Reign, after the club acknowledged that they initially let them down. In a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, the club extended a "sincere apology," and used Monday's event to make it up to their beloved followers.

It can be pointed out that this may simply be a miscalculation from an organization who has never been in a trophy-winning situation before, but a bad lack of judgement initially went into the decision-making process over not including fans. However, seeing the club acknowledge the mistake and do right on it by hosting an inclusive event was a great turn of events. For Gotham, it's a learning experience, and maybe an opportunity to implement a fan council who is able to communicate with the board of the club in a collaborative manner.
