The rivalry between Manchester City and Manchester United has grown more fierce over the last few years due to the fresh dominance of the blue half.
Since billionaire Sheikh Mansour began handing over his wads of cash at City following his 2008 takeover, the club have become a force in the Premier League.
Sir Alex Ferguson and his Man United teams commanded the football sphere in England for the better part of two decades, but following the Scotsman’s retirement in 2013, the North-West outfit have dipped slightly.
There is certainly no love lost between the two sets of fans, who will be interested to learn that Ferguson and current City manager Pep Guardiola recently met for dinner.
According to the Daily Mail. Ferguson invited the Spaniard out to celebrate City’s title win just a few days after United lost 1-0 to West Bromwich Albion – a result that handed the crown to their enemies.
It would not have been enjoyable for the ex-Red Devil to witness City become champions, but he clearly felt the need to congratulate Guardiola in person.
City fans have given their take on the meeting via Twitter.
