da bet7: It wasn't a vintage display from Sarina Wiegman's side, though Beth Mead's assist for the opening goal did give the fans a moment of magic to cheer.
da betano casino: There wasn't even a minute on the clock in England's crucial meeting with Ireland on Friday when the home fans began a rendition of 'football's coming home'. While that might've been inspired by the looming Euro 2024 final for the men's team, Sarina Wiegman's side also allowed supporters to move a step closer towards their own huge dream of back-to-back continental titles as they secured a 2-1 win that puts them on the brink of qualifying automatically for Euro 2025.
The Lionesses, champions of Europe two years ago, knew that a victory was important and if the supporters at Carrow Road were quick off the mark, the players weren't far behind as Alessia Russo broke the deadlock with just five minutes played after Beth Mead's sensational touch put her through on goal. She should've had a second after the break off another exquisite pass but couldn't quite reach Jess Park's eye-of-the-needle ball, having probably attacked it with the wrong leg.
That was the most clear-cut chance England had to double their lead, Ireland improving and the Lionesses' intensity dropping after the opening goal, until Niamh Fahey hauled down local hero Lauren Hemp in the box just before the hour. Up stepped Georgia Stanway to send Courtney Brosnan the wrong way and bag what turned out to be a necessary strike, because Julie Russell pulled one back for the visitors with the last kick of the game. Still, England will head to Sweden in a couple of days full of confidence as they look to get the job done in qualifying.
GOAL rates the Lionesses' players from Carrow Road…

Hannah Hampton (6/10):
Had one nervy moment in possession in the first half but otherwise didn't have much to worry about. Claimed crosses well.
Maya Le Tissier (7/10):
Took a rare chance to start in a meaningful game and offered plenty up and down the right.
Leah Williamson (6/10):
Solid all-round display before she was replaced at half-time.
Alex Greenwood (6/10):
Had a few loose moments in possession and was caught napping for Ireland's consolation, though she did win the ball back more than anyone else and made a superb block in the second half to thwart O'Sullivan.
Jess Carter (6/10):
Picked up where she left off in the last international break with another solid display in a position not natural to her. Off at half time.

Keira Walsh (7/10):
Some fantastic passes from deep to get England on the front foot. Near faultless on the ball.
Georgia Stanway (7/10):
Carried the ball well to push Ireland back but was surprisingly hesitant to shoot on several occasions. Cool as ice from the spot to make it 2-0, though.
Jess Park (7/10):
Lively in the middle of the park and played some really sharp passes to kickstart attacks.

Lauren Hemp (6/10):
Gave Ireland plenty to think about down the right, as shown by the penalty she won, though lacked end product at times.
Alessia Russo (7/10):
Composed finish to break the deadlock, especially so early on. Pressed well and made good runs.
Beth Mead (7/10):
Absolutely exquisite touch to set up Russo for the first goal.
Subs & Manager
Millie Bright (6/10):
On at half time and settled seamlessly into the back line, winning plenty of duels.
Niamh Charles (6/10):
Another change at the break who didn't do much wrong, battling hard and foraying forward in the latter moments.
Chloe Kelly (5/10):
Came on around the hour but struggled to get involved as the Lionesses struggled for any fluidity in the second period.
Jessica Naz (N/A):
Came on with just less than 20 minutes to go to make her senior England debut.
Aggie Beever-Jones (N/A):
Also earned a well-deserved first cap in the closing stages.
Sarina Wiegman (8/10):
Made a smart decision to rest Lucy Bronze and Ella Toone with both a booking away from a suspension and gave out chances to the likes of Le Tissier, Greenwood and Park, which they took well. Nice balance of rotation and consistency to ensure a really important result.
